Small Watermain Replacement and Rehabilitation

Baltimore, MD

As a subconsultant, Bryant provided topographic and utility survey, as well as civil engineering design services to support the replacement of approximately 1.15 miles (6,120’) of 6” - 20” small water mains in high traffic areas along Wilkins Avenue between South Caton Avenue and the borderline with Baltimore County.

The project had some significant complexities the firm had to consider including: maintaining continuous service to St. Agnes Hospital, which is serviced by the watermain; MD State Route 1 (the original US Route 1) is concrete and considered part of the design criteria; a 20” gas main sits directly on top of the watermain alignment; and a sizeable portion of residential properties would be affected in both Baltimore City and Baltimore County.
