The Potomac Water Filtration Plant produces approximately three-quarters of the water used by the Washington Sanitary Sewer Commission’s (WSSC’s) 1.6 million customers.
The WSSC embarked on a $12.53M improvement project designed to enhance overall operations, which included upgrading/replacing existing corrodible equipment, improvements to concrete spalls and other structural and non-structural deteriorations, as well as joint sealant repairs.
Bryant is providing construction management services for upgrading/replacing existing corrodible equipment (equipment having regular carbon steel, aluminum, etc. constituents), to those of non-corrodible material (316 stainless steel [SS], fiber reinforced plastics [FRP], etc.) in all eight (8) 150ft x 100 ft. by 18ft deep sedimentation basins, necessitated by accelerated corrosion due to a change of chemical process to improve water filtration.
